Infant sleep, measured properly
Every baby sleep chart on the internet was written for a baby that isn’t yours.
Nocturne starts from published reference values, then learns your baby’s actual wake windows, nap lengths and settling times from what you log. The schedule it gives you back is measured, not copied — and you can see exactly how much of every number came from your own data.
Tracking, reference-range comparisons and all safety screening are free forever. No card to start.
It learns, then keeps learning
Your baby's wake windows are estimated from their own logged sleeps and shrunk toward the age reference — so day one is sensible and week three is specific. A 10-day half-life means the model follows a 5-month-old into being a 7-month-old instead of lagging a month behind.
Nothing is asserted without a source
Every reference value comes from a named study, and every recommendation shows its citations and how personalised it is. Where something is a practice heuristic rather than a finding, it says so.
It will tell you to stop
Screening against validated clinical cutoffs runs automatically and is never behind the paywall. Snoring with pauses, growth concerns, or pain on lying flat block the behavioural programs outright and send you to your pediatrician.
How the wake window is worked out
Most wake-window charts have no stated origin. Ours is derived, and here is the whole derivation — the same arithmetic the app runs, from values you can look up.
| Total sleep per 24 h at 6 months | 12.9 h | Galland 2012, Table 2 |
| Share of that taken during the day | 24% | Iglowstein 2003, Table 1 |
| → Day sleep | 3.1 h | derived |
| → Night sleep | 9.8 h | derived |
| → Awake during the day | 10.7 h | 24 h − night period − day sleep |
| Naps at this age | 3 | Galland 2012, Table 3 |
| → Mean wake window | 2 h 40 m | awake time ÷ (naps + 1) |
That is the starting point, before your baby’s own data moves it.
